Meghan McGlinchey, West Deptford Grad, Wins A-10 Distance Titles

The LaSalle runner took the 5K and 10K individual golds at the conference championships this past weekend.

Meghan McGlinchey, a grad and standout endurance runner for LaSalle, won the distance double at the Atlantic 10 conference championships this past weekend, winning the 10K in record time and the 5K by more than 8 seconds.

In the 10K, McGlinchey clocked a 34:57.58 to break the year-old conference record by 1.65 seconds, beating the field by almost 40 seconds at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

The former record-holder, oddly enough, was another Gloucester County product—Amanda Goetschius of Delsea.

In the 5K, which McGlinchey also won during the indoor season, she posted a 16:36.65—23 seconds faster than her indoor time—to beat the field by 8.39 seconds.

"Meghan McGlinchey had a tremendous A-10 Championship [and] we had a lot of other very strong performances and personal bests," LaSalle head coach Dan Ireland said. "While the overall team finish was not what we were looking for, the athletes competed hard and ended the year on a positive note."

McGlinchey has had a strong outdoor season thus far, for a second-place showing in the 10K at the Stanford Invitational, and ran on April 26.
