Morgan Brown Wins North Jersey Bowling Singles Title

The Eagles senior gets her first major individual test of the winter season.

West Deptford High School senior Morgan Brown staked her early claim as the top bowler in the state, scoring a singles victory in the North Jerey Singles Championships at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park this weekend.

Brown rolled a 659 series in qualifying, 62 pins better than anyone else at the event, and after a bye through the quarterfinals, edged her way into the finals with a 185 game, two pins better than Paramus’ Brittany Hovan and nine better than Immaculate Heart’s Kaitlin Pasinski, who was knocked out with a 176.

Brown went on to throw a 202 in the final and romp over Hovan, who was only able to manage a 151.

It was an early singles test for Brown, who was edged out for the overall state singles title last year by Washington Township’s Nicolette Sarin—but with Sarin graduated, Brown has one fewer hurdle to clear this year.

The North Jersey title comes a month ahead of the state tournament, which begins with sectionals Feb. 2. The singles championship is scheduled for Feb. 13.
