Read Across America Day at Oakview Elementary [Photos]

With the hallways filled with Cat in the Hats, Oakview Elementary seemed more reminiscent of Whoville on Friday morning.

Even though the day, celebrated every year on Dr. Seuss’s birthday, technically falls on a Saturday this year West Deptford elementary schools didn’t let the weekend stand in their way of some Seuss-inspired fun. Decked out in their most whimsical duds, students traveled from classroom to classroom in celebration of Read Across America Day.

A setup similar to 100th day, the teachers of Oakview Elementary transformed their classrooms into stations, each with a different activity related to Read Across America. Students from each classroom traveled from station to station to play games, construct crafts or to take in a good story book with the help of their teachers.

With Cat in the Hat being one of the most popular choices, students of Oakview also arrived to school dressed as their favorite storybook characters.

In addition, Green-Fields Elementary School also partook in some Seuss shenanigans, also dressing as their favorite Dr. Seuss character, on Friday.

Designating Friday as pajama day, Red Bank Elementary celebrated Read Across America all week with a different theme for every day.
