Rowan University Moves Commencement Ceremony to Football Field

The University will have a graduating class of 2,500 students, its largest ever.

Rowan University's commencement ceremony will take place at the football field this year, the university announced on its website on Wednesday.

University officials say the move from the University Green to Coach Richard Wackar Stadium for the May 15-16 ceremonies is being done to accommodate 20,000 graduates and guests expected on campus those days.

The University will have its largest graduating class ever at 2,500 students.

According to The Courier Post, each graduate will receive three tickets, with the chance for more tickets by entering a pool. The commencement speaker will be Gov. Chris Christie.

While the tradition always has been to hold Commencement on the University Green in front of Bunce Hall, we are a growing University and we have higher-than-ever numbers of students participating in Commencement,” Joe Cardona, Rowan’s vice president of University Relations told Rowan Today.

The main commencement ceremony is scheduled for May 15, 10 a.m. The undergraduate ceremony is set for May 16, 10 a.m.
