Samantha Budd, Megan Kirschling Named All-South Jersey

The two track standouts aren't done yet, with a major meet this weekend.

This year’s South Jersey Track Coaches’ Association’s All-South Jersey girls’ team has some familiar names.

standouts Samantha Budd and Megan Kirschling were each named to the team in their respective specialties—Budd for the 800 meters and Kirschling for the high jump.

Both girls , both in record-breaking fashion.

Budd smashed her own school record to win the state title, kicking at the end to take the race in 2:14.78.

Kirschling broke her own school record, the all-group meet record and the state Group 2 record in winning her title with a jump of 5-10.5. She followed it up with a third-place finish at the Meet of Champions, leaping 5-8.

Both girls are in action this weekend at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, NC.

Budd will run in the Emerging Elite 800 Saturday afternoon at 1:45 p.m., while Kirschling will jump in the high jump championship, which begins at 5 p.m. Saturday.
