School Board Weighs Assistant Super Contract, New Assistant Principal

William Thompson's contract is up for public hearing Monday night.

A new contract for West Deptford’s assistant superintendent and business administrator is up for a public hearing Monday night as part of the last meeting before the start of the 2012-13 school year.

While the terms were not disclosed ahead of the meeting, William Thompson has made $139,750 in each of his last two, one-year contracts with the district as its combination assistant superintendent and business administrator.

Thompson’s 2012-13 contract was passed from the school board for approval by the county superintendent back in July, and covers the period from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.

Besides his main jobs, Thompson also serves as the school board’s secretary and is the purchasing agent for the school district.

Besides the contract hearing, the school board is also slated to consider a candidate to replace Donna Martello, who retired as the high school’s assistant principal for attendance and discipline this year.

Though not on this week's agenda, a public hearing should come in the next several weeks on superintendent Kevin Kitchenman's contract, which would run through 2017. It was sent by the school board for county approval last month along with Thompson's proposed contract.
