Students Uninjured in West Deptford School Bus Accident

The driver of the car that collided with the school bus was transported to the hospital after the Feb. 21 crash.

Two students and a school bus driver walked away uninjured from an accident Thursday, but the driver of the other car was transported to a local hospital for pain following the bus vs. car crash.

The DeHart school bus was making the late run from West Deptford Middle School when it collided with a 2000 Hyundai shortly after 4 p.m. Feb. 21. The car hit the school bus’ passenger side.

The crash occurred at West Eighth Street and Manduit streets. The bus had been traveling north on Manduit Street and was traveling through the intersection of West Eighth Street, while the Hyundai had been traveling west on West Eighth Street, West Deptford Police Chief Craig Mangano reported.

The Hyundai’s driver was transported by ambulance to Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury for pain after the collision.

The Hyundai sustained heavy front end damage. It wasn't immediately clear how much damage the school bus sustained.

Mangano said the investigation into the crash is ongoing; no summonses had been issued Thursday evening.
