Sports: Week In Review/Preview: April 18
A look back at the week that was and ahead to what this week will serve up.
Though rains forced a few cancellations and made for a sloppy day at the Woodbury Relays, there were still plenty of action this past week. The baseball and boys lacrosse team each picked up a pair of victories, while Megan Kirschling established a new record in a high jump. Legionary tennis player Billie Jean King also stopped by RiverWinds to .

GIRLS' TRACK

At the West Deptford Relays, Megan Kirshling won a Group 2 high jump title, clearing 5-4. Afterward, she said she was pleased with her jump and was looking forward to going after her personal record of 5-7. Kirschling accomplished that goal at the Woodbury Relays, clearing 5-7 to set a meet record. Previously, six athletes had shared the record of 5-6. The Relays also featured the continuing of Paige Vicari's , as she cleared 8 feet in the pole vault at Woodbury.
BOYS' TRACK

The Eagles found success in a tri-meet last week, beating Sterling 90-50 and Audubon 100-37. They boys also competed in the Woodbury Relays and finished eighth in Division 2. The 4-x-200 team had the day’s best result, taking second in a time of 1:32.79.
BASEBALL
The Eagles have clearly put their slow start behind them, winning four of their past five games, including a 5-3 win over Penns Grove and 11-1 defeat of Paulsboro. The Eagles put away the Red Raiders early, scoring 10 runs in the first two innings. Tony Urban and Harry Sturgis each had an RBI double, while Urban, Jason Fox and Ty Castellano combined to strike out 11 in a 4-hitter.
SOFTBALL
The softball team had just one game last week and was defeated by Buena 4-0, to drop to 4-2 on the season. Buena scored three runs in the first inning, while the Eagles were held to just one hit for the game.
GIRLS' LACROSSE
Last week we found out what it takes to as the Eagles won their only game of the week, 17-3 over Woodstown.
BOYS' LACROSSE
The Eagles picked up a pair of close wins on Monday and Wednesday, besting Seneca 13-12 and Bishop Eustace 13-11.
GOLF
The golf team continues to pile up victories, improving to 5-1, with a 2-1 week. The Eagles recorded wins over gateway and Haddon Township, while falling to Burlington Township. Below were their winning scores:

BOYS' TENNIS
The Eagles suffered their first setback of the season on Friday, 4-1 to Sterling. The team was without its first singles player, had to shuffle the lineup and ultimately the team could not recover. One day earlier, West Deptford easily , 5-0.
THIS WEEK
With the senior trip wrapping up and spring break on the horizon, the sports schedule slows down a bit. No varsity teams will be in action on Monday, Tuesday or Friday. On Wednesday, the golf, tennis, baseball and boys' lacrosse team each competes, and on Thursday, golf, tennis, baseball, softball, girls' lacrosse and the boys' and girls' track and field teams will all be in competition.
