State Wrestling Matchups for Kaminski, Bonner Revealed

The bright lights and big stage of Atlantic City is waiting for West Deptford juniors Tyler Kaminski and Rory Bonner. And now both wrestlers know which opponents also await their arrival, after the NJSIAA's seeding meeting Monday morning in Robbinsville.

Kaminski, who claimed the Region 8 title as a No. 6 seed, was slotted in as a No. 3 seed in the top bracket for this weekend’s tournament. He will face the winner of Erik Beshada (34-3, for Christian Brothers) vs. Matt Noble, (36-3, for Bridgewater-Raritan).

Meanwhile, Bonner is a No. 8 seed in the bottom bracket and will open against Anthony Miller (25-6), of Brick Memorial. The winner of that bout will face the No. 1 seed in the bottom bracket, Tevin Shaw (27-0), of Piscataway.

While the brackets are titled “top” and “bottom” the names do not represent a talent gap. The eight region champions were seeded separately and then placed in the appropriate brackets. Region winners who were seeded 1, 4, 5 and 8 were placed in the top bracket, while region winners seeded 2, 3, 6 and 7 were placed in the bottom bracket.

In terms of Kaminski’s place as the No. 3 seed in the top bracket, that means he was originally seeded as the fifth-best region champion in the weight class.

Each region champion got a bye into the pre-quarterfinals.
