Twelve Contestants Gear Up for 2013 Mr. West Deptford Competition

Find out who's in the running for Mr. West Deptford and what you can expect from the annual pageant.

What better way to kick off 2013 than with 12 of West Deptford’s finest competing in this year’s Mr. West Deptford pageant?

Starting at 7 p.m. in the West Deptford High School auditorium on Friday, Jan. 11, the contestants will strut their stuff for the title of Mr. West Deptford.

Student council adviser Karen Foster does not want to give to much of the opening act away, but says it will be full of style.

With a corresponding month for each of the 12 contestants, the competition will open with the boy’s introduction as each gives a representation of their month. And while holiday shenanigans and comedy are sure to ensue, the contestants will only be warming up for the rest of the show.

Following up to the introduction will be the talent portion, followed by intermission, and will close out with formal wear.

As in past years, the audience will have the chance to cast their vote with a cash donation. All proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. An award will be given to the contestant with the most donations, along with an award for the contestant with the popular vote and the contestant with the best talent. Awards will also go to the contestants placing third, second and first place in the competition—with first place receiving the title of Mr. West Deptford.

Tickets for Mr. West Deptford are $5 per person and will be sold at the door.
