Twenty-Third Police Academy Class Graduates Wednesday

A dozen recruits will graduate this year's class.

Twelve recruits will graduate from the Gloucester County Police Academy at Gloucester County College as part of its 23rd graduating class Wednesday.

One woman and 11 men from three New Jersey counties completed the Special Officer II class, which began in August 2010. Special Officer II graduates are authorized to exercise full powers and duties similar to those of a permanent, regularly appointed, full-time police officer.

John Pope, retired captain of the Egg Harbor Police Department, will be the keynote speaker. Pope and GCC Provost/Acting President John Henzy will award the diplomas.

Special awards will be given at the ceremony for academics, marksmanship, vehicle operations, dedication, physical fitness and professionalism.
