VIDEO: Haddonfield, West Deptford Runners Race at New Balance Indoor
Haddonfield's Carly Bonnet and West Deptford's Samantha Budd took on top competition at the national race at New York's Armory.
's Samantha Budd and 's Carly Bonnet came in as South Jersey champions, and left among the top 40 runners in the 800 meters after competing in the New Balance Indoor Nationals at the Armory in New York City.
Bonnet, the Group 1 champion, and Budd, the Group 2 champ, were slotted in the same Emerging Elite heat at the prestigious meet, facing competition from as far away as Long Beach, CA.
Bonnet, who led early, finished just ahead of Budd, notching a 2:21.76—nearly seven seconds better than her South Jersey-winning time—to place 26th.

Budd, who took a spike to the leg at one point in the four laps around the Armory's tight banked track, finished in 2:23.40 to take 37th.
