Viewfinder: West Deptford Girls at the Penn Relays

The Eagles raced a pair of relay teams Thursday, and West Deptford alum Meghan McGlinchey ran in the 5,000 meters.

Besides Megan Kirschling’s run at the high school girl’s high jump, fielded a pair of relay teams at the Penn Relays Thursday.

The girls’ 4x100 relay team of Megan Sullivan, Madison Moreno, Amber Jones and Claudia Theriault clocked a 54.31 deep in the small-school heats in the late morning.

The girls’ 4x400 relay team of Megan Knoblock, Liz Douglas, Nicole Pinto and Samantha Budd, meanwhile, took seventh in the South Jersey Small Schools heat, turning in a time of 4:15.62, finishing just behind Seneca and Glassboro.

West Deptford grad Meghan McGlinchey, a LaSalle runner, finished fourth in the college women’s 5,000-meter championship race, and missed out on third by less than a quarter-second.

McGlinchey clocked a 16:20.76, and was edged by Lenoir-Rhyne’s Kate Griewisch, who finished in 16:20.53.

The fastest time on the night belonged to Maine’s Corey Conner, who won in 16:01.37, beating her closest competitor by 15 seconds.
