Visitors' Seats Hard to Come By at WDHS

Delays in fabricating the new stands means temporary bleachers will be in place until late in the season.

When Haddonfield and clash on the gridiron tonight, it’ll be an even tougher seat to score than usual.

That’s because the new visitors' stands, which West Deptford school officials hoped would be done well ahead of the rivalry game, have been hit with a delay from the manufacturer.

The structural steel, which was expected to be coming together on site by this week, has yet to be fabricated, Superintendent Kevin Kitchenman said, and probably won’t be ready for assembly until late in the football season.

“Certainly before the playoffs–but again, it’s all contingent on the arrival of the steel,” Kitchenman said. “Myron [Hall, director of facilities,] is still trying to nail them down.”

Temporary bleachers have been in place for the first two games of the season, and Kitchenman said another set is coming in for tonight’s matchup to handle the capacity crowd.
