WDHS Girls' Soccer Nets OT Winner

Facing a 2-1 deficit at the half, the Eagles came back late in the second half to tie before netting the winner in overtime.

After storming back from a 2-0 first-half deficit, the girls' soccer team turned to an unlikely hero in overtime Friday.

Megan Kirschling, who usually roves the defensive backfield, fired home the game-winner just 1:40 into the extra period to complete the comeback and give the Eagles the win over Haddon Township.

The Hawks struck early, scoring the game's first two goals, and held that lead for most of the first half, before a goal from Megan Sullivan pulled West Deptford within one going into halftime.

The teams deadlocked for most of the second half, but Paige Paratore, who also assisted on Kirschling's game-winner, tied the game with her goal with eight minutes to go in the second half.

West Deptford keeper Alicia Barger made 10 saves in the effort.
