Rowan U: One of the 10 Ugliest Campus in America?

Rowan was one of three New Jersey colleges that made the Complex.com list of the 50 ugliest college campuses for 2013.

Three New Jersey colleges are among the ugliest campuses in the nation, according to a list recently published by Complex.com.

The website believes Rowan University, in Glassboro, is the ugliest campus in the entire state, and tenth-ugliest in the country. New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark was 14th.

The New Brunswick campus of Rutgers University ranked 26, with criticisms of its reliance on a bus service that “leaves little room for a proper college experience.”

The website praises Rutgers’ older buildings as “university gems,” but calls the newer structures “eyesores” by comparison.

Complex hammers the NJIT campus as comprising a “dizzying variety of building styles” that form “haphazard, ugly” grounds.

Complex saved its most scathing review for Rowan University, however, calling it a “campus in need of a lot of love,” with water-stained buildings surrounded by “ill-placed technical equipment and dumpsters.”

Complex named Ava Maria University, in Ava Maria Florida, as the ugliest college campus in the country: its buildings form a horseshoe around a church.
