West Deptford Boys' Basketball Rally Falls Short

The Eagles came up just a few points shy in a bid for their seventh win of the season against Sterling.

A late comeback bid came just a few points short for the boys’ basketball team, as they tried to get their seventh win of the season and top last year’s total against Sterling Thursday night.

After leading at halftime, 30-25, the Eagles were staggered by a big third quarter from the Knights, who took a four-point advantage going into the fourth quarter.

West Deptford managed to outscore Sterling in the fourth, but not enough, as the Knights prevailed, 60-57, to avenge a season-opening loss.

Tom Jakubowski led the Eagles with 18 points, while Tim Fair, Tim Krott and Justin Hansen each chipped in 10.

The game marked the end of a long road swing for the boys, as they return home to face Paulsboro Tuesday and Overbook Thursday.
