West Deptford High School to Compete in Consumer Bowl

The Eagles want to bring home the title in the Gloucester County Consumer Bowl, where they will compete against Glassboro and Gateway.

West Deptford High School hopes to end Glassboro's two-year reign as county champions in the 17th annual Gloucester County Consumer Bowl on Thursday.

Bowl action is set for 10-11:30 a.m. at the Gloucester County Library's Main Branch in Mullica Hill.

The Gloucester County Consumer Bowl will ask questions in a game show format to test the students' knowledge of the Consumer Fraud Act and Weights and Measures statutes. The participating students have been learning about these subject in their classes.

Each team, which consists of five students, an alternate and a faculty member, will be judged by staff from the County Office of Consumer Affairs.

West Deptford is a regular participant in this event and will take on Glassboro and Gateway Regional High School. The winning school will advance to the Regional Finals in March. Each member of the winning team will also receive a $25 gift card and will be honored at a future Gloucester County Freeholders meeting.

Last year, Glassboro defeated both West Deptford and Gateway in the competition. They went on to finish in third place in regionals. Glassboro also took home the 2011 county title.
