West Deptford School Board Race Will Be Uncontested in November

Just three candidates filed by Tuesday's deadline.

Forget about a contested 2012 school board race in West Deptford.

In stark contrast to the , just three candidates filed for the three seats open this year, rendering the November election almost a moot point.

Incumbent Peter Guzzetti will run, along with Tom Lee and David Kline, according to a report issued by the county clerk’s office Tuesday evening, a few hours after the filing deadline.

Incumbent James Mehaffey had said previously he wasn’t going to run for another term, and incumbent Don Hicks opted not to run for his seat, as well.

The school board at least in part to take advantage of increased turnout, which is now less of an issue, barring a write-in campaign.

With the move to a November election, Hicks and Mehaffey will serve out through the end of the calendar year. The board will reorganize on Jan. 2, 2013, when new members will be sworn in.
