West Deptford Seeded Third in Field Hockey Sectionals

The Eagles will host a quarterfinal game Nov. 2.

After finishing off Haddon Heights in overtime Monday, the West Deptford field hockey team got some more good news: the Eagles scored a first-round bye and will host a quarterfinal in the South Jersey, Group 2 tournament.

West Deptford will play No. 6 Middle Township (8-5) on Nov. 2. Middle split a pair of games with No. 5 seed Buena during the regular season, but has lost to Cape-Atlantic powers Hammonton, St. Joe's and Millville.

With a win over Middle, the Eagles will face either Lower Cape May at home or travel to Woodstown for the semifinal.

Looming on the other side of the bracket is top-seeded Haddonfield, which owns a pair of wins over West Deptford this season. The Eagles will not have to face Collingswood, the only other team they've lost to this season, as the Panthers play in the Central Jersey bracket.
