West Deptford Sports Wrap: Boys' Tennis Sweeps

The Eagles got a 5-0 win over Lindenwold in tennis, and the golf team bested Gateway.

Things have been coming together lately for the boys’ tennis team, but they came together in a big way Monday.

The Eagles made it look easy, scoring their fourth win with a 5-0 offing of Lindenwold, and look to start up a winning streak again when they face Woodbury later this week.

Girls’ lacrosse

The Eagles lost a defensive showdown with Seneca, 7-3. They trailed by just one at the break, but Seneca clamped down in the second half, allowing only one West Deptford goal the rest of the way. Jess Hill, Paige Paratore and Emily Whalin each scored for the Eagles.

Baseball

Just three days after pulling out a win in the bottom of the seventh against Penns Grove, the Eagles saw the tables get turned, as Highland plated the winning run on a wild pitch to take a 3-2 victory in Cooperstown, NY.

After the bases were loaded, Highland’s Joe Sigismondi stormed home on the rare walk-off errant pitch. The Tartans had trailed, 2-0, through five and a half innings, but scored twice in the sixth to tie things up before the fateful seventh inning.
