West Deptford Sports Wrap: Lacrosse Teams Win

The girls went to OT, while the boys dominated the second half of their game.

After two scoreless overtime periods in a row, Krott scored the game-winning goal 1:13 into the third overtime to beat Cherry Hill's girls' lacrosse squad, 14-13, at home Friday.

took a 9-6 lead into halftime, but struggled on offense down the stretch before going to overtime.

Krott, Gabby Minnite and Emily Whalin all had hat tricks for the Eagles, and sophomore keeper Alyssa Sorrentino made 20 saves in the game.

Boys’ lacrosse

The Eagles opened a slim lead at halftime against a tenacious Gloucester Catholic squad, before outscoring the hosts, 11-5, in the second half on the way to a 15-7 win Friday.

Nick Baud had two goals and five assists, Zach Kaestner had four goals and four assists and keeper Brendan Gill notched 15 saves as the Eagles improved to 4-1 on the season.

Boys’ tennis

The Eagles were left still hunting for their first win after a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Haddon Township. The doubles team of Jimmy Albert and Ethan Nicholas battled the closest on the day, but fell to Haddon Township’s Gary Charlesworth and Colin McErlean, 6-4, 6-4.
