West Deptford Sports Wrap: Softball Slips by Audubon

The Eagles handed the Green Wave a 4-0 loss; meanwhile, the boys' tennis team's struggles continued.

After an afternoon nearly devoid of hitting, West Deptford's softball team scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in a 4-0 win over Audubon Friday.

Sydney Ponto barreled home on ball that glanced off the catcher’s glove, and Marissa Linquist scored on another passed ball, to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead early on, as both teams struggled to get baserunners against overpowering pitching on the afternoon.

West Deptford later added insurance runs after loading the bases on a pair of bunts that spun along the chalk and died just inside the baselines.
