West Deptford Sports Wrap: Teams Sweep

It was all marks in the win column for the Eagles Monday.

had one of those rare days Monday where no one could be stopped. From to the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams scoring a pair of big wins, it was a perfect day for the Eagles.

Softball

The Eagles used a two-out rally in the second inning to blow up the scoreboard and sink Collingswood, plating 12 runs in the inning in a 19-2 blowout Monday. West Deptford strung together 14 hits on the day, and took every advantage of four Collingswood errors—including a dropped popup in the second that would’ve ended the inning. Sydney Ponto went the distance on the mound for West Deptford. 

Girls’ Lacrosse

After going to halftime with Kingsway tied, 3-3, West Deptford found a way in the second half, outscoring the Dragons 10-7 to win, 13-10, Monday. Paige Paratore and Rachel Krott got it done for the Eagles, scoring five and four goals, respectively.

Boys’ Lacrosse

The Eagles shrugged off a less-than-stellar first quarter to take a 5-4 lead at halftime against Bishop Eustace Monday, before shutting the door on defense in the second half in a 10-5 win that kept West Deptford perfect in the conference.

Golf

The Eagles remained undefeated, easily beating Woodbury, 175-215, at RiverWinds Monday. For a change, it was the heat that was the factor, instead of the wind, as Matt Santarelli stepped up to lead West Deptford with a 42.
