Wins All Around for Eagles

The West Deptford boys' and girls' basketball teams downed Gateway while the Eagles' swim team defeated Pemberton.

Anyone who showed up a couple minutes late to the girls’ basketball game between and Gateway missed the lone moments where the Gators were within single digits.

The Eagles dominated the Gators from the tip, building a 21-1 lead in an eventual 70-28 victory. Tarryn Bundy was the game’s high scorer with 19 points, while senior Megan Kirschling added 16. The Eagles got a balanced scoring effort as 10 different players scored, including Michelle Bower, who scored eight points off the bench.

Alisha Fox led Gateway with nine points.

West Deptford (4-2), winner of four of its last five games, will take on Haddonfield on Thursday.

Strong second propels boys' basketball

The West Deptford boys’ won their second-straight, downing crosstown rival Gateway 62-39 on Tuesday. The Eagles led by just one after the first quarter, but won the second session 16-3 to pull away.

Tim Fair led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, while Tom Jakubowski netted 12. Senior guard Kyle Redrow knocked down a trio of threes, finishing with 11 points, and while sophomore point guard Justin Hansen also scored 11. Tim Krott chipped in with eight points.

West Deptford (4-2) is now two games over .500 for the second time this season. The Eagles started 2-0 before dropping to 2-2. They will face a stiff test Thursday when they host their rival Haddonfield. The Bulldawgs entered Tuesday’s action 4-1.

Swimming away with a win

The West Deptford swimming team improved to 3-1 with a 123-53 win over Pemberton Tuesday.

First-place finishers for the Eagles included Phil Palmer (200 free), Frank Bilodeau (50 free), Cara Spector (diving), Jack Baldwin (100 fly), MacKenna Angert (100 back), John Meagher (100 breast). West Deptford also won the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
