Sex offenders residing at Hotels and Motels

The public should be made aware that in almost every city Hotels/Motels are housing sex offenders. To date, there is no mandatory posting of this fact when the general public "checks in" to these establishments. I live in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area and the sheer number of tax payer funded motel/hotels accomadating these offenders is frightening. It would be my recommendation that any person or family prior to "checking in" to these establishments ask "does this establishment house sex offenders?" I did some research here and found lodging that accomadates the "worst of the worst" and yet were big draws to families due to affordability and proximity to our area beaches. Any unsuspecting family would have no indication that rapist and child molestors were literally feet away from their families heads while they slept. Not long ago, a woman and her 12 year old daughter checked into a "Budget Inn" while traveling. The mother sent the daughter to get ICE, something we all do when settling into a room. The daughter didnt return. As it later turned out, a dangerous career repeat sex offender had walked up on the daughter at the Ice machine, used a stun gun, dragged her back to his room, raped and strangled her and discarded her body in the field behind the hotel. But here is the "clincher" and a perfect example of a failed system. It took 7 years for his DNA to be matched up with her crime. That slays me to this day. Any freak who would walk up on a child and use a stun gun obviously has a long list of criminal offenses that he has yet to be convicted of. Whats more outrageous is the "system" knew he was being housed in this establishment! Yet the Dots were never connected! Don't think its the more affordable establishments that engage in this practice. Last week I found an offender living at the "Hark Rock" hotel. One of the pricest establishments in the county. Again, my recommendation is to "ASK" they certainly won"t volunteer the information!
