2012 Senior League Eastern Regional: West Deptford Falls

The Eagles saw an 8-5 lead turn into a 20-10 loss to Massachusetts Monday morning.

Auburn, MA, scored 15 runs over the final two innings to advance to the winner’s bracket final with a 20-10 win over West Deptford in Monday morning action at the Senior League Baseball Eastern Regional at .

Trailing 8-5, Auburn scored eight times in the sixth and seven in the seventh to record the win. A key throwing error extended the sixth inning. With the score tied, 8-8, and two outs in the inning, the miscue allowed the go-ahead run to score and extended the inning. Auburn scored four more times in the inning to take a 13-8 lead. Ryan Kozlowski and Drew Goodrich each had two run singles in the eight-run frame.

Joe Fahey and Lincoln Bias paced Auburn’s 18-hit attack with four hits apiece. Ty Castellano and Tyler Garrison each had a pair of hits for West Deptford, which will now play an elimination game at 5 p.m. Monday against either New York or Maryland.

Ryan Kozlowski was awarded the win out of the bullpen as the most effective reliever for Auburn. He pitched out of bases-loaded, no-out trouble in the sixth as West Deptford closed to within 13-10.

Auburn will face Upper Moreland, PA, in Tuesday’s battle of unbeatens. Game time is set for 10 a.m. Upper Moreland weathered nearly four hours of rain delays on Sunday night to turn away Naamans Little League of Wilmington, DE, 10-4.
