9-10 Baseball Off to Perfect Start

The West Deptford 9-10 baseball team advanced to the single-elimination portion of the District 15 Tournament and will host South Harrison on Tuesday.

Fourth of July weekend brings with it barbecues, fireworks and baseball–plenty of baseball.

The Little League All-Star season is underway and one local team is wasting no time putting wins on the board.

The West Deptford 9-10 Little League Baseball team No. 1 won its District 15 Tournament pool today, finishing a perfect 4-0. West Deptford earned wins over Gibbstown, Wenonah, South Harrison and Oak Valley and will face South Harrison in the single-elimination potion of the tournament, Tuesday at 6 p.m. in West Deptford.

Joining West Deptford in the single elimination round are Pitman, South Harrison, Deptford, Glassboro, East Greenwich 1 and East Greenwich 2.

West Deptford had three teams in the 9-10 bracket, with teams 2 and 3 each finishing 1-3 to miss out on the next round. The top two teams in each five-team group advanced.

West Deptford dominated its pool, winning by mercy rule in each game.

The players who have led the way are Dylan Wakely, Patrick Demareo, Justin Hahn, Gabe Finocchi, Ben Smith, Michael Gismondi, Maguire Lyons, Dominic Rossi, Jack Murphy, Jake Paratore and Ryan Sawyer.

The 9-10 All-stars are the first group to compete in what is sure to be a busy summer. Over the next two weeks, the 10-11, 12-13, Junior and Senior baseball and softball teams will each take their cuts at becoming the best team in District 15 and beyond.
