Eagles Lead Final Power Points of Season

West Deptford can lock up home field in the first two rounds of the playoffs with a win over Haddonfield on Friday.

West Deptford football saw undefeated Cedar Creek close the gap in power points this weekend, but the Eagles are still holding on to the top spot.

West Deptford, who has led the South Jersey Group 2 power points every weekend in October, should be able to clinch the number-one seed on Friday with a win over Haddonfield. The Eagles stretched their record to 7-0 with a 64-6 blowout victory over Collingswood on Friday. Cedar Creek was able to close the gap by beating Vineland, a Group 5 school, this weekend.

It is a virtual lock that West Deptford and Cedar Creek will be the top two seeds when the South Jersey Group 2 bracket is released next week. However, there is a lot riding on the Eagles' meeting with the Bulldawgs on Friday.

Haddonfield enters the game ninth in power points, with 65. It is possible that if West Deptford beats the Dawgs and Sterling, which is eighth in power points, defeats Overbrook, that Haddonfield could miss the playoffs for the first time in five years. The scenario is unlikely, however, as Haddonfield will get many power points simply for playing a strong team like the Eagles.

The only other Colonial Conference team is in the South Jersey Group 2 playoff hunt is Haddon Heights. They are in the third spot in power points with 83, just ahead of Woodstown. Heights will look to lock up a number-three seed at Collingswood this weekend.
