Girls Tennis' Playoff Run Ends at Cedar Creek
The Eagles were eliminated from the South Jersey Group 2 tournament as they were shut out by the third-seeded Pirates.
Despite having a very experienced and determined group of seniors, the West Deptford girls' tennis team could not overcome a red-hot Cedar Creek squad.
The Pirates, seeded third in the South Jersey Group 2 Tournament, defeated West Deptford 5-0 in their quarterfinal match on Wednesday afternoon, ending the Eagles' postseason.
West Deptford didn't go down without a fight, as senior Marthalyn Johnson put up a fight in the first singles match against another highly-touted player, Cedar Creek's Linsey Gabris. Johnson was able to take the first set 6-4 before falling 6-3 in set number two.
