Eagles Fall Against Division-Rival Haddonfield

West Deptford was outscored by 18 points in a poor second half as the Bulldawgs handed Eagles girls' basketball their first loss of 2012-13.

After holding their own in the first half against division-rival Haddonfield, the West Deptford's girls' basketball team struggled through a very rough second half as they fell to the Bulldawgs 45-24 in their home opener.

The Eagles actually led Haddonfield 10-9 after the first quarter and were still in the game at halftime, trailing by just a single point. However, Haddonfield came on strong in the second half defensively and was able to outscore West Deptford 28-10 in the second half.

Hayley Raymond was the high scorer of the game for the Bulldawgs as she tallied 11 points. Junior Tina Furfari led West Deptford with nine points on the night and another junior, Gabby Minnite, added an additional five.

The game was a completely different outcome for the Eagles than their opener, where they made a comeback in the fourth quarter with 15 points in the period to defeat the Overbrook Rams on the road 30-26.

West Deptford's next game will be on the road against Woodbury on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles will play their next five straight on the road. They won't return home again until Thursday, Jan. 10 when they host Paulsboro to kick off a six-game homestand.
