Megan Kirschling Breaks Elon Record Again, Nabs Conference Honors

The West Deptford grad notches another record and earns conference honors in the process.

West Deptford grad Megan Kirschling is proving herself a force early in the winter track season at Elon University, racking up another school record and conference honors this week.

Kirschling, who broke Elon’s high jump record in her first meet earlier this winter, leaped 5-10 at the Gene Anderson Invitational in Chapel Hill, NC, this weekend, breaking her own school record and earning Southern Conference’s Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors in the process, the conference announced Wednesday.

It was the best mark of the season for Kirschling, and the best mark of any jumper in the conference for 2012-13, and was her second title of the season.

Kirschling has jumped 5-8 twice this season, setting the record at the Liberty Kickoff on Dec. 1, 2012, then hitting the same height at the Wake Forest Invitational on Jan. 19, which propelled Elon to first overall at the meet.

While the rest of the team heads to the Liberty Quad this week, Kirschling will be off to Fayetteville, AR, for the Tyson Indoor Invitational on Friday, where she’ll compete against some of the top jumpers in the nation.
