Senior League Eastern Regional Field Set for Friday

Ten teams are qualified and set for the Senior League Eastern Regional, which marks its 21st year in West Deptford this year. The double-elimination tournament starts with a pair of games at Friday, followed by a full slate Saturday before elimination games start Sunday.

The qualifying teams and schedule:

Maryland: Talbot (Home Run Baker/Easton) thumped Maugansville, 11-0, in Waldorf, MD, to claim the Maryland state title. They were the first team to qualify for the Eastern Regional.

Rhode Island: Edgewood-South Elmwood knocked off Barrington, 4-3, with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to take the Rhode Island championship.

Delaware: Felton-Harrington defeated Naamans, 4-2, to win the Delaware state title.

New Jersey District 15 (host team): West Deptford handily swept Glassboro in the championship series, going undefeated in their District 15 title quest for the host team berth.

Massachusetts: Quincy won best-of-three series with 8-6 win over Gloucester in the deciding game Sunday in Lowell, MA.

Connecticut: Edgewood (Bristol) beat Stafford, 6-5, in the best-of-three series for the Connecticut title.

Pennsylvania: Greater Wyoming took down Crawford County and Horsham to claim title at Emporium, PA on Monday. Greater Wyoming avenged a pool play loss, beating Horsham 15-8 in the title game.

Maine: Waldo County beat Coastal, 7-2, in Bangor to punch their ticket to the regional on Monday night.

New Jersey: Freehold stormed out of the loser's bracket and beat North Vineland/East Vineland two straight times to claim the state title late Monday night.

New York: Undefeated Stony Point won the title over Commack South Tuesday to snag the last spot in the regional.
