WD Athletic Hall of Fame to Honor 2012 Inductees

The Nov. 18 induction ceremony includes four former student-athletes, plus a championship team from the 1999 season.

When it comes to West Deptford athletics, it's not all about perfomance—it's also about character. Just ask the 2012 inductees of West Deptford's Athletic Hall of Fame.

The West Deptford High School Athletic Hall of Fame will hold its induction ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 18. The banquet is at Nicolosi’s Catering on Hessian Avenue, with a reception at 1 p.m. followed by a luncheon at 1:30 p.m.

This year, the West Deptford Hall of Fame will induct four individuals, along with the 1999 West Deptford High School girls’ bowling team, which went on to become Olympic National Division champions.

The annual induction ceremony serves to honor individuals who either demonstrated outstanding athletics while attending West Deptford High School or who have made a significant contribution to West Deptford athletics as a coach or in another capacity. In addition to excellence, the West Deptford athletics nominees were also selected based on character, sportsmanship and leadership qualities.

All inductees are hand selected by the Hall of Fame committee after the nominations are submitted. This year's committee includes Superintendent Kevin Kitchenmen, athletic director Tim Cammarota, John Cobb, Mark Dixon, Mike Hink, Sally Jordan, Donna Martello and Peg Page.

In addition to being honored at the banquet, all hall of fame inductees will be recognized for their outstanding achievement at the football game this weekend during half-time.

Here are the 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees:

Mike Page (Class of 1977)
Mark Dixon (Class of 1981)
Chelsea Cipriani (Class of 2004)
Jake Brownell (Class of 2005)
All members of the 1999 WDHS girls’ bowling team
