A week after a frustrating road loss at Woodstown, the West Deptford freshmen team bounced back to defeat Collingswood 30-6 on the road this past Saturday. The sophomore and junior teams also earned wins while the senior team lost.
The freshman were able to get the running game going again with 286 yards on the ground. Lawrence Howard scored three touchdowns, all of 40+ yards, while Jabil Barksdale and Saleem Washington also added touchdown runs.
West Deptford did a good job of holding the Collingswood offense to a single touchdown. Howard had a huge fumble recovery and combined with Washington, Dominick Walton, Damian Waters and Jamar Wallace for 16 tackles.
The sophomore team came up with a blowout win as well, defeating Collingswood easily 41-6. The junior shut out the Panthers 26-0, while the senior team fell 41-14.
On the season, the freshmen are tied at the top of their division with Gloucester Twp. at 4-1. The sophomores are two games ahead in their division, also with a record of 4-1. The junior team is tied with Pennsville for first place at 4-1 as well, while the senior team is looking to turn things around at 1-4.
The Eagles are back on the road again this upcoming week, as they will visit Kingsway.
