WD Freshmen Football Defeats Previously Unbeaten Kingsway

The freshmen Eagles come up with their biggest win yet, handing the Kingsway Dragons their first loss since 2010.

The West Deptford freshmen football team was able to do something that no team has done in quite a while—defeat Kingsway.

Coming up with their biggest win of the season, the Eagles knocked off the previously undefeated Dragons 12-7. It was Kingsway's first loss at the freshman level in 21 games.

Lawrence Howard was once again the catalyst that drove the Eagles to victory. Howard had 168 of his team's 266 yards on the ground in the game and scored two touchdowns. His biggest play, however, came on defense late as he secured a fumble recovery at the end to seal the victory for West Deptford.

The win for the freshmen team has certainly opened eyes around the Tri-County Midget Football League with just three weeks left in the regular season. West Deptford will return home on Saturday to host Pennsville. The sophomore team can clinch the Emerald Conference National Division title with a win this week, while the junior team can tie Pennsville for first place in their division with a victory.
