WD Wrestling Sits Eighth in S.J. Group 2 Power Points

The Eagles' early season losses in December hurt as they find themselves just outside the top-6 playoff spots in the first power points of 2013.

West Deptford wrestling's slow start to the 2013 season has them sitting in the middle of the pack in the first NJSIAA power points of the year.

With just one win so far, a 56-12 rout of Overbrook, West Deptford has 24.33 points, which places them in eighth place out of the 16 teams in South Jersey Group 2. The power points are as of Jan. 7 and do not include the Eagles' match on Wednesday night against Haddonfield.

Perennial powerhouse Delsea is sitting in first place with a perfect 8-0 record and 29.38 points. Two other teams in the group are also unbeaten, Clayton/Glassboro with a 5-0 record and Middle Twp. at 3-0.

The top six teams in each group make the team tournament, putting the Eagles on the outside looking in early on. The good news is that West Deptford has plenty of time to make up ground, as they will have just a bit more than three weeks until the playoff cutoff date on Saturday, Feb. 2.
