A late-stage comeback proved futile for West Deptford girls' basketball in a match against against Deptford Tuesday night. Coming off of a win against Gateway last Thursday, the Eagles couldn't pull off another victory at home against Deptford.
Deptford took an early lead in the first quarter. Gaining some momentum in the second quarter, the Eagles closed the gap somewhat at the half with a score of 32-21 in favor of Deptford. Staging a late comeback in the fourth quarter, the Eagles scored 20 points—while the Spartans could only come up with eight.
But it was too little, too late as the Eagles came up short with a final score of 53-44.
West Deptford will play Sterling High School on Thursday at 7 p.m. West Deptford currently holds a record of 3-16, while the Knights are currently 15-3.
