West Deptford Field Hockey Team Advances to South Jersey Final

The boys' and girls' soccer teams also advanced in playoff action last week.

The West Deptford High School field hockey team plays for a championship this week, according to nj.com.

The top-seeded Eagles will face No. 2 Woodstown in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 final.

The Eagles advanced to the final with a 4-1 win over No. 5 Lower Cape May last week. Goals came from Tricia Baud, Jennifer Dean, Ciara Girouard and Lauren Henry. Goalie Melissa Gregorio made 10 saves.

Woodstown made its way to the final with a 4-3 win over No. 3 Middle Township.

West Deptford faces Haddonfield in the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs.

The Eagles entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed. In the first round, they defeated No. 16 Bridgeton, 6-0. Luke McKeown and Zach Peterson each scored twice in the win. Dylan Morgan and Gary Simmons scored the other goals. Goalie Perry Corsetti made three saves.

In the quarterfinals, the Eagles downed No. 8 Haddon Heights, 5-1.  Cole Van Dorick led the way with two goals, followed by RJ Eckley, Kevin Gill and Luke McKeown with a goal apiece. Goalie Perry Corsetti made five saves.

Haddonfield entered the playoffs as the No. 4 seed. In the first round, the Bulldawgs ousted No. 13 Barnegat, 1-0, on a goal from Brendan Werner. He was able to beat Barnegat goalie Max Ritner, who made 18 saves. Haddonfield goalie Jonathan Baxter made five stops.

Haddonfield went all the way to a shootout to beat No. 5 Sterling in the quarterfinals. The game was scoreless after regulation and two overtime periods. Haddonfield goalie Jonathan Baxter made 12 saves.

Girls' soccer

No. 2 West Deptford advanced to the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs with a 3-0 win over No. 10 Deptford in the quarterfinals.

Sam Budd scored twice for the Eagles. The other goal came from Paige Paratore, who also had an assist. Other assists came from Karen Knoblock and Rita Prinz.

West Deptford hosts No. 6 Haddon Heights in the semifinals.
