West Deptford Football Team Downs Sterling for 26th Straight Win

The West Deptford and Haddonfield soccer teams split their meetings this week.

The West Deptford High School football team remained unbeaten this season and picked up its 26th consecutive victory with a 35-7 win over Sterling on Friday night, according to nj.com.

Gerald Owens scored each of the Eagles' first two touchdowns and Isaiah Worthy scored twice in the second half.

West Deptford improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial Conference. The Eagles look to remain unbeaten Friday night when they host Haddonfield.

Sterling dropped to 4-1 overall, 2-1 in the conference.

Boys' soccer

West Deptford 1, Haddonfield 0: Gary Simmons posted the winning goal in the Eagles’ victory, off an assist from Tyler Robinson.

Goalie Perry Corsetti made six saves to preserve the shutout, as the Eagles improved to 14-0-1 on the season.

West Deptford overcame an impressive performance by Haddonfield goalie Jonathan Baxter, who made 13 saves. The Bulldogs fell to 11-3.

West Deptford 8, Overbrook 0: Dylan Morgan led the way with two goals in the win. RJ Eckley had a goal and two assists, and Kevin Gill had a goal and an assist.

Other goals came from Griffin Crowley, Brandon Jones and Rob Weaver. Ryan Kappre, Zach Peterson and Pete Tachdjian each provided an assist.

Goalie Ian Kruithof made one stop in the shutout.

Girls' soccer

Haddonfield 3, West Deptford 1: Haddonfield took a 2-1 lead into halftime and added an insurance goal in the second half to improve to 13-2 on the season.

Madison Castellano led the way with a pair of goals. Kate Walters also found the back of the net.

Carly Bonnet had a pair of assists, and Alyssa Fortino had another.

Gabby Sileo posted the only goal for West Deptford, with an assist from Sam Budd. West Deptford dropped to 11-2 for the season.

 

West Deptford 8, Overbrook 0: Karen Knoblock and Gabby Sileo led the way with two goals apiece. Mel Bartley, Payton McGinnis, Madison Moreno and Kelli Tachdjian also scored in the win.

Nicole Pinto assisted on two goals. The Eagles also saw assists from Sam Budd, Natalie Carrero, Liz Fenton, Tina Furfari, Paige Paratore and Rita Prinz.

Goalie Sam Budd made two saves in the shutout.
