West Deptford Softball Beats Middle, In South Jersey Finals [Photos]

With a shot at the South Jersey, Group 2 final in the balance, West Deptford's Marissa Linquist was at her most dominant in the circle Wednesday, striking out 10 Middle Township batters and allowing only three hits as the Eagles cruised to a 5-0 victory at home Wednesday.

Linquist never allowed more than one baserunner in an inning, and Middle never got anyone past second base.

It looked like it could've been a pitcher's duel for the first few innings, until the Eagles' Destiny Thurston drove in teammate Summer Wenzel to crack the scoreboard, and West Deptford never looked back, scoring four in a backbreaking fourth inning.

They'd add a fifth run in the fifth inning, when Wenzel scored off a double by Ciara Girouard.

The Eagles will head to top seed Buena Friday for the championship game.
