RiverWinds Plans Family Health Night

RiverWinds is set to hold its first ever Family Health night next week, which will include free screenings, games and prizes.

With school far behind, children may find themselves having trouble combating the lazy days of summer. However, may be able to help in Family Health Night next wek, a night dedicated to promoting health and wellness.

Residents of West Deptford are urged to bring their families to the community center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday night, June 25, for a night of wellness and fun, in the first of what township officials are hoping becomes an annual event.

“On behalf of the entire township committee, I not only hope, but implore our West Deptford Township residents to partake of these services and screenings which may help one to improve their personal health and the health of their loved ones,” said Mayor Raymond Chintall in a statement about the event.

In addition, all adults can participate in free health screening provided by local services. These include a diabetes screening, blood pressure screenings and glaucoma screenings.

"We have around 25 vendors lined up to be here," said Brent Linkstrom, an intern for RiverWinds who has been helping organize the event. Those include Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Peddler's Shop, Kennedy Health, Penn Therapy and Fitness, Christine McGivern Massage, Bai Low Cal Lifestyle Drinks, Samaritan Hospice and others.

Linkstrom said RiverWinds plans to make this a recurring event, adding the goal of Family Health Night is to highlight local businesses and provide information to families on how to live healthy lifestyles.
