For those who like to learn new talents while they volunteer, the United Way of Gloucester County and the local AARP have just the answer.
Local individuals of any adult age are invited to become AARP Tax Help volunteers to help low, moderate and fixed income families save money on tax return preparation.
The Tax Help program offers free tax help to households that cannot prepare their own tax returns.
Volunteers will receive training to be certified by the Internal Revenue Service to prepare basic tax returns. Last year AARP Tax Aid volunteers assisted taxpayers in filing more than 3,000 federal and state tax returns, saving them $288,000 in preparation fees.
Individuals interested in signing up for the training to prepare tax returns during the 2014 tax filing season can contact Donna Fanticola at the United Way office (856) 845 4303 x13 for additional information.
Training sessions will be held in Gloucester County before the end of the year.
