West Deptford Patch to Hold Holiday Food Drive

All proceeds will benefit the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries' Food Pantry, which serves West Deptford.

West Deptford Patch and Edward's Hairstyling in Woodbury are joining forces to help make this holiday season special for local families in need.

Edward's and Patch will hold a holiday food drive from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at the salon, 14 S. Broad Street, Woodbury.

The food drive will be held in conjunction with the city's first Festive Friday event of the season, and will benefit the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries' Food Pantry.

The all-volunteer pantry serves an average of 350 families per month, said Kathy Stackhouse, the pantry's director.

The need for donations is great than ever, she said.

"This year, there are a lot more new folks who have jobs that have disappeared, or who have been downsized and just aren't able to find work."

Patch will accept donations of canned goods, and non-perishable food items such as pasta sauce, hot and cold cereals, macaroni and cheese, and tea and coffee. Cash donations will also be accepted (checks should be made payable to GWCM Food Pantry.)

All donations will go directly to the food pantry, which serves residents in the greater Woodbury area, including West Deptford. Everyone who makes a donation will receive a $5 gift certificate good toward any service at Edward's. For more information on the food drive, call 609-775-5880.
