Back to School, West Deptford Day, Willow Woods Rent Increase Hearing

There's a handful of events in town this week, but they're important ones.

On Wednesday, September 4, the township Multiple Dwelling Regulation Board will hear a rent increase application for the Willow Woods Mobile Home Park, where rent was raised about $12 a month last year, even after some heated testimony from residents about conditions at the facility.

That meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the West Deptford municipal building.

Also on Wednesday, you can help West Deptford resident and Eagle Scout candidate Robert Alscher assemble Shelter-In-Place kits at the at the Thorofare Fire House Hall from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Alscher will be assembling the kits on Thursday evening at the same time, and will be distributing them on Saturday during West Deptford Day at the RiverWinds Community Center.

Thursday September 5
is the first day back to school for all West Deptford students. Take a look at that calendar and start crossing off the days, mom and dad!

Also for Thursday, the regularly scheduled meeting of the township committee has been cancelled. Its business will be consolidated into the Sept. 19 work session and agenda.

Finally on Thursday, you can use that evening that's been freed up to attend the art class at the RiverWinds. Learn how to make a fall centerpiece with resident artist Fran DiCarlantonio.

Saturday, September 7 is West Deptford Family Fun Day, the unofficial end of summer in the township, celebrated with fireworks, food, and family entertainment.

The morning begins with a 7:30 a.m. 5K road race honoring Sgt. George Farrell ($15, pre-register by Sept. 3). At 10 a.m., games, face painting, and food are offered. A main stage will feature talent performances and a magic show.

There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, climbing wall, obstacle course, and speedway; the day will also feature an auto show, the band, “Where’s Pete,” and will close with fireworks at 7 p.m. at the RiverWinds amphitheater.

The rain date for Family Fun Day will be Sunday, September 8th.
