Sleepy Hollow, Homecoming, Jr. Women's Club 5K: Week in West Deptford

There will also be a special meeting of the township school board Monday evening.

On Monday, October 21, there will be a special meeting of the West Deptford Board of Education at 6 p.m. at the high school. Superintendent Kevin Kitchenman said the board will tour the facility and discuss capital improvement needs.

At 7 p.m., the RiverWinds Advisory Board and township Environmental Commission will also meet that night; the former will be held at the RiverWinds Community Center, the latter in the West Deptford Municipal Building.

Thursday, October 24, the West Deptford Free Public Library welcomes keyboard player Joe Best at 7 p.m. for a revue of American songwriters Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Cole Porter.

The event is free, and refreshments will be served. Call 856-845-5593 to reserve your spot.

Friday, October 25 marks the West Deptford High School Homecoming football game at home against Haddonfield. Come out and cheer on the undefeated team.

Then, on Saturday, October 26, high schoolers will enjoy their homecoming dance.

Saturday, the West Deptford Junior Women's Club will host its third annual 5K run and one-mile Halloween Family Fun Walk. The race runs at 8:30 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 9:15 a.m. at the RiverWinds Community Center. There will be trick or treating for costumed children, as well.

Pre-registration is $15 for the race and $10 for the walk, with same-day registration $20 and $15, respectively. The top male and female overall finishers in eight categories will be recognized, with special awards for the best costume.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, the city of Glassboro holds its Craft Beer Festival. Guests can enjoy unlimited pours of 60 craft brews, food, music and vendors. Tickets are $30 in advance/$35 at the gate; pay $40 for a VIP pass and get in an hour earlier.

At 5 p.m., take a trip down to Washington Lake Park in Washington Township, and join the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night Walk. The fundraiser supports patient advocacy, cancer research, and treatment.

On Sunday, October 27, the West Deptford Free Public Library will host “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at 3 p.m. Richard Stillman and Jonathan Luks of TSF Productions will entertain children of all ages. Free; registration requested.
