Youth Programs Galore for West Deptford Teens This Week

From foot races and cooking classes to balloon art and a live animal display, there's lots of things for kids and teens to do in town this week.


On Monday, July 29, young runners (13 and younger) can stretch their legs at the Gloucester County Running Club youth developmental series. Registration starts at 6 p.m., with the race starting at 6:30 p.m. at West Deptford Park on Metropolitan Avenue.

There's also an Alex's Lemonade Stand event that will be held during the race to help raise money to fight pediatric cancer.

Then, on Tuesday, July 30the West Deptford Free Public Library will host
“They Came from Beneath the Earth,” an educational program for children that includes a traveling live animal collection. Show starts at 11 a.m.

Then at 6:30 p.m., the library rolls the 2013 Disney movie Oz: The Great and Powerful (PG). The show is open to all middle- and high-school-aged 
aged students. Popcorn will be served.

Thursday, August 1, brings with it the latest from the local township government, as the West Deptford committee hosts another meeting at the usual time and place—7 p.m. in the municipal building.

If you feel like doing something more artistic instead, you can learn how to make functional art with a $58 pottery class at the RiverWinds community center.
Learn hand building techniques, "which will include pinch, coil and slab construction." The class is taught by resident artist Fran DiCarlantonio.

Then, on Friday, August 2, Allynn Gooen from Goowin’s Balloowins visits the West Deptford public library for an 11 a.m. balloon art show for children of all ages.

The library opens its doors to teens and tweens later that afternoon for a fajita cooking class and some dietary education.
