Update, 1 p.m. 12/21/12: The Brooklawn Circle is closed due to flooding. Traffic is being detoured. ____________________ Two roads in West Deptford are closed Friday morning after a storm blew through late last night into early morning. According to police Chief Craig Mangano, Crown Point Road is closed in between Mid-Atlantic Parkway and Mantua Grove Road due to significant flooding—an area that is prone to washouts. In addition, a part of Kings Highway is also shut down in between Jessup Road and Parkville-Station Road, due to a downed utility pole. PSEG is currently on site working on the downed pole. The last stray bits of what was Hurricane Isaac will blow through Wednesday, and State Police and the National Weather Service are warning drivers to watch for flooded roads as scattered storms move through during the day. With the forecast indicating another inch of rain is possible on top of the three inches of rain that was recorded at Philadelphia International Airport through the day Tuesday, there’s a risk some low-lying roads could end up under water. “Be alert for ponded water on the roadways, a frequent result of flash flooding,” the State Police said in an advisory. “Do not try to drive or walk through standing water.” It only takes about six inches of moving flood water to knock down a person, and two feet of moving water is …

Hurricane Irene's hum became a growl late Saturday night, as heavy rain and high winds rolled in ahead of the center of the storm, which was expected to hit New Jersey early Sunday morning. The area began to feel the more serious effects of the storm as night fell, with flooding and power outages reported throughout Gloucester County and the region. Crown Point Road in West Deptford closed at Grove Avenue because of flooding after 11 p.m., and flooding was reported on major routes nearby, including the Route 130 ramp to the Commodore Barry Bridge, Route 295 in Bellmawr, where motorists were stranded in floodwaters, and Route 76 between Route 295 and the Walt Whitman Bridge.
