Mr. West Deptford Brings Plenty of Laughs to High School Auditorium

Delivering a ton of laughs, Jack Baldwin's skits were enough to crown him Mr. West Deptford for 2013.

With the West Deptford High School auditorium bursting at the seams, the 12 contestants went all out for the title of Mr. West Deptford. Yet in the end, only one walked out of the high school auditorium victorious Friday night. Kicking off the night was a one of a kind performance by the boys that held true to student council adviser Karen Foster’s promise of style. Bouncing back from a small technical mishap, the contestants paraded down the aisles and onto the stage. The contestants began their opening dance number with “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls—however, the number soon changed tempo as they rode imaginary horses to the beat of “Gangnam Style” by PSY. Following up the contestants’ opening act, came the parade of months. …

West Deptford Swimmers Making Waves

The Eagles swim team improved to 5-0 Tuesday.

With a handful of their best swimmers having graduated last year, the veteran members of the West Deptford High School swim team weren’t exactly sure what would be in store for the Eagles this season. Once the initial shock of who wasn’t there wore off, the student-athletes started realizing that maybe things wouldn’t be so bad. “We started practicing and we realized we are not awful, so we will try,” senior captain Jack Baldwin said with a laugh. Not awful at all. West Deptford defeated Haddon Township, 109-74, Tuesday afternoon to move to 5-0 on the season.
