Two men in the same vehicle were responsible for a single-car crash that killed a 31-year-old Sewell woman, prosecutors allege. One of them, from the back seat grabbed the steering wheel, causing the driver—who allegedly was drunk—to lose control of the vehicle, according to court documents. Additional details about the crash on I-295 in West Deptford just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2011, were revealed in an indictment handed up by a Gloucester County grand jury last week against the two men. Rudolph M. Curvy, 41, of Woodbury, was charged in the indictment with a second-degree count of reckless manslaughter and a fourth-degree count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. More than a year after a crash that claimed the life of Sewell resident Jenita Noel, the diver of the vehicle has been indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury. Karon Blanton, 33, of Woodbury, is charged with vehicular homicide; drunken driving with a suspended license causing an accident and death; and assault by auto, all from a single-car crash just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2011 that caused Noel’s death. Noel was flung from a 2004 Chevy Impala when Blanton lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a wall while traveling on I-295 in West Deptford. Local law enforcement officials are aiming for a holiday season free of fatal car crashes.
It was the early morning hours when a Chevrolet Impala went out of control and slammed into a wall on Route 295 in West Deptford back on Sept. 17, injuring several occupants and killing 31-year-old Jenita Noel, who was thrown from the car. Karon Blanton, 32, of Woodbury, was charged vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and causing death while driving with a suspended license and ended up in jail on $250,000 bail. An early morning single-car crash on Route 295 in West Deptford claimed the life of a Sewell woman. Front seat passenger Jenita Noel, 31, died from her injuries after she was thrown from the car, state police said. The incident happened at 12:48 a.m. Saturday. State police said driver Karon Blanton, 32, of Woodbury, lost control of the 2004 Chevy Impala and slammed into a wall. He is charged with vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and causing death while driving with a suspended license. Blanton was lodged in Gloucester County Jail on $250,000 full cash bail.
